If you have a donkey, you know that it's a special bond. It's different from a horse, a dog, or just about any other creature. These stubborn-but-loyal animals can warm the human heart and simultaneously make you lose your mind!
 
To celebrate the link between a donkey and its owner - and in particular, owners who chose to run high-altitude races with their burros - we've created these cutting boards. Our initial run is on maple with a walnut trim. The artwork depicts a runner and a burro, heading down a country path into the hills. As the artwork states - "Life is a journey best experienced with friends"!
 
Each board is laser-engraved followed by sanding to remove any scorch marks and smooth the surface slightly. We then hand apply Walrus Oil and Walrus Cutting Board Wax to protect your board. You'll get a care and handling document with your order explaining how you can keep it looking brand new for years to come.
 
Our initial run is 11x14 but please reach out if you'd like a smaller or larger size; we just need some lead time to get the boards from our supplier. The boards are manufactured in the USA.
 
Have you heard of burro racing?! To celebrate Colorado's mountain mining history - and our ongoing love of animals - the Western Pack Burro Ass-ociation organizes a series of races in Colorado and other American southwestern states.
 
In and around various historic mining towns, human athletes run alongside their donkey companions on difficult - and usually high-altitude - courses ranging from about 3 miles up to 30 miles. The excitement - and crowds - around these fun and challenging races brings an opportunity for us to make unique products that speak to the (very) unique bond between people and their burros, as well as the families and communities that support them!
